We loved the architecture of the barns and the beautifully
detailed dormers and cupolas. Our rooms were comfortable
with the cozy feeling of home.

lodging barn at gedney farm
Modeled after the great Normandy barns of
nineteenth century France, the barns at Gedney Farm were
built at the turn-of-the-century as a showcase for the finest
Percheron stallions and Jersey cattle of the day. The classic
proportions - together with their majestic scale - exemplify
the expansive spirit and passion for excellence of the Berkshire's
gilded age.
Today Gedney Farm has
been boldly transformed into a unique
lodging
facility, featuring 16 elegantly
appointed guest rooms and suites
in the former
cattle barn, many with granite
fireplaces, some with large tiled
whirlpool
tubs. Located across a courtyard
is the
former horse barn, now used as
an exceptional space for weddings,
special events and executive retreats.
In
the renovation of Gedney Farm, the
architect aspired to integrate
the most distinctive stylistic
elements and architectural features
of two
different eras. As a result,
the original architectural features
of the barn
are strikingly preserved within
a contemporary and adventuresome
interior
space. Since its inception at the turn-of-the-century, Gedney Farm has been
a place apart; undiscovered by many but cherished by those
who have come to know the finer pleasures in life and appreciate
the simple and gentle beauty that is Old Berkshire.
